Scrubbers are wet collectors and used for final collection of particulate matter where dry recovery finds unfeasible. Can also be used for recovery of valuable products from gas stream. Scrubbers work with the mechanisms of humidification, condensation and alimentation. Major classifications are spray columns, packed bed scrubbers, ventury scrubbers and wet type precipitators.Packed bed scrubbers are best used for corrosive gases such as H2SO4 HCL and HNO3 with low dust concentration. Packed bed scrubbers consists of column with coarse and wet packing to prevent plugging and re-entrainment. Water or lime solution can be used as scrubbing liquid and these kind of scrubbers are offering best performance for bulk drug industry and chemicals.
